In a group setting, confidentiality is essential to creating safety and trust. Members are expected to keep everything shared in group private and not discuss other participants’ identities or personal experiences outside of sessions. However, confidentiality has legal and ethical limits. Information may be shared with my clinical supervisor, as I am under supervision, to ensure appropriate clinical support and oversight. Confidentiality will also be broken if someone expresses intent to harm themselves or others, if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child.
